i need ideas for the older kids
As long as the games are shirt,I think they will enjoy them.Horseshoes and pin the tail on the horse (or donkey) both would work.I cant think of any others, but both of these sites had some great ideas.Hope you find what you are looking for.

My daughters 7th birthday Party! Pink Cowgirl theme! I have invited 24 girls! I have a pinata and a craft(painting small horse figurines), but I have no ideas on what else the kids can do!? I'm going to purchase a few hay bails for the gifts and for my daughter to set on when she opens gifts. Weather permiting I will have it in the backyard! We have a swing set that they can play on! I'm just worried that I will over do it and no one will show! HELP!
Kids will always find something to do. In my experience over planning is sometimes worse then under planning. You want some structure but in their minds this is a good way to get to play with their friends.
I say throw some treats(candy, lip gloss, cool pens, glitter) in a cowgirl themed bag and then let them be girls. What you have planned is plenty when you add in the fact that there is still cake and ice cream to be eaten and presents to open and tried out.

My niece is turning 9 and my sister has asked me to help plan a birthday party for her. The maximum number of kids attending has been set at 5 (including the birthday girl). Her birthday is in early September - so I left plenty of time to plan, I just have no party planning skills! Thanks to our economy, my sister has asked that I spend as little as possible. My niece's favorite TV shows are Hannah Montana, Sonny with a Chance and Wizards of Waverly Place. She loves horses and ponies. She is also a huge American Girl fan (she has Samantha and Nellie). Her friends also have American Girl dolls. Her favorite Disney princesses are Sleeping Beauty and Ariel.
She isn't an "outdoorsy" kid and a sleepover has been okay-ed by her mom. Her friends all get along really well and they all enjoy the same things she does.
If you could help me plan a themed party complete with activities and games, party favors and foods (for dinner, breakfast and snacks) that would be excellent. Thank you all for responding in advance.
1- A sleep over is the way to go! LOL They will need minimal entertainment, and beside, some snack foods, and a movie rental, there is really nothing much to be done.
You can give each girl a "beauty bag" filled with Hannah Montana nail polish. foot scrub, facial mask (all of which are at the dollar & Zellars or Wal Mart.
Then liet them occupy themselves with the contents
You can also get aHannah Montana Birthday cake ($20) For breakfast I would do waffles with a "buffet set up" where they can top it with different berries, whip cream, ect.
Dinner I would do pizza LOL
Snacks can be as simple as chips/popcorn, or as extravagent as a sundae bar, ice cream with all the trimmings.
Entertainment could be movies (High School Musical marathon
) OR You could go to the dollar store and pick up picture frames, and let them paint, and decorate them.
2./ You can do a spa party. You can hire someone to come give manicures, pedicures, For about 12-15 a kid.
Well, THIS should get you started at least

My niece is turning 4 in a couple of weeks (Aug 29) and her mom is financially strapped right now. My birthday is the 28th (turning 25) so I told her we will have a combined party that weekend. Obviously it is going to be more for the kids but I knew this would be the only solution her mom would go for.
We are having the party at my house in the early afternoon and we are having a dessert themed party, so cupcakes, banana splits...etc. I need so good and cheap ideas to make this party extra special. She has had birthday parties before but they have all just been gathering for cake and never many kids. We are inviting kids this time!
I just moved into my house a few weeks ago and I am getting married in a few weeks, so I am also strapped for cash. So far, I was thinking of maybe doing a costume party so the kids come dressed up and having face painting. I think I already have some. What other ideas do you have?
My niece is a hugh girly girl but she is also a tom boy (she lives on 5 acres with horses and lots of walnut trees). We don't have a backyard at the moment (just dirt). I do live in a cut-da-sac but they just sold the houses across from me so I don't know if there will be moving trucks that weekend or not.
So any ideas you guys can give me would be great. I can spend some money so it all doesn't have to be free stuff, just on a budget. We are all also going to Disneyland a couple days after my wedding so she is going to have a great birthday regardless. We did a princess theme last year but she still loves princesses!
It doesnt take a lot to make a birthday party special party for a four year old
costumes and face painting is a great idea
also try temporary tatoos
buy some crayons and wal mart (i think its 4 24 packs for a dollar)
and some big paper (it cant be that expensive) and have them make a big mural. anything out of the ordinary is amazing for kids
you can buy bubbles for cheap, or make your own
maybe a fashion show where each kid gets to show off their costume
And put your dirt to good use!
buys some cheap wrapped chocolate coins and gide them in your backyard slightly under the dirt, and have the kids find them as treasures!
when it come to kids, imagination is all you need for a great birthday party

Hi. I need help thinking of some fun and original games to play at a birthday party. It's nothing big only about 10 girls. Not sure if it will be a sleepover or not. I can't do a pool party and I couldn't really do it at my house. I LOVE horses and own one... I am going to do a horse theme no matter what...and ideas for a party? I was thinking trail ride or jumpy house? Anything creative and original will be appreciated. Thank you. P.S I know this is in the wrong category I was just hoping people who are into horses could think of some creative games for maybe on horseback or anything...
When I was growing up, we would have birthday parties at the stable where my horse was boarded. My mother would pay money to owner's of horses that were easy to ride. We would have a picnic, cake, presents and then go riding. I could only invite 10 of my friends. Yet, we could ride all day and night, provided the horses were cared for.
At dark, we would build a huge fire and make smoors.
After presents, food, cake and desert, we would take the horses out on a ride.
I had so much fun riding on my birthday!
See if you can do that same.
Good Luck and Take Care

For my daughter's 6th birthday we are going horseback riding. But I wanted some activities/games for the kids to play while they wait for their rides. We're going to have country music playing, bandanas, etc. But does anyone have any ideas of what else we could do? Any ideas would be great! Thanks!
Have the kids make and decorate "vests" out of brown paper bags.
Fill a large rubbermaid container with sand and water. Mix some pennies in with the sand. Give each child a pie plate or sand sifter and have them "pan for gold."
Since you're going to have music playing anyway, teach them a quick, simple square dance (just make one up--they won't know the difference, anyway!). Or play musical chairs!
Have fun!

ok so my oldest daughter is turning ten in late november. she's a total tomboy and she loves horses. we've done horse parties, sports parties, gone to see a movie, gone to mcdonalds. she plays soccer and is taking riding lessons. she likes the jonas brothers (blech!!!) but i don't really want to do a party themed around a bunch of guys. any ideas would be greatly appreciated
thanks y'all
i can't believe i didn't think of laser tag! i love laser tag (yes i'm still a kid myself sometimes) haha. i think she'd really enjoy that. thanks!
Do you have laser tag or a skating rink nearby? We had my daughter's party at the rink and her 11 year old friend had hers at laser tag. They had so much fun!
